Transparent watermarks to use over line art so that the copyright is clearly seen but the underlining art is also visible. How to do this?

Using Photoshop 6 and Windows ME
Is it possible to have a watermark created so that the copyright symbol and message is visible BUT the underlying artwork can also be seen through the watermark?

Or just make a text layer and lower the opacity for that layer.

how about this:

add a new text layer, I find a thick text works best. I used "elephant"

type your text in on top of your image

on the layer style, click on

bevel / emboss
contour
and drop shadow.

very important. on the very top of the layer styles window, before you click "OK" on the right to accept your choices, click on the very top option on the left that says "blending options"

in this, make sure that the "blend mode" is set to "normal" and the opacity is 100%. below that in the advanced blending box, lower the "fill opacity" to ZERO. that should do it. I made mine into an action so I can run it on a group of photographs.

hope that helps!
