Resetting Preferences

Every so often, when I load Photoshop.. the preferences will return to default, and I have to reset them..

A second problem I am having.. is that sometimes the text tool does not respond correctly to the point size… ie even setting the tool at 8 px displays the font at 96 px … then after a day or so.. it will work correctly again…

The third problem.. is with a filter.. Super Blade Pro.. lately, the effects are not translating to the image..

These are not constant problems but occasionally recurring ones…

Any suggestions to correct any of the issues either for good or when they occur would be appreciated…

The first two happen with 5.0 thru CS
The 3rd.. only with CS

First, we don’t email the answers, but post them here so others (like me) can benefit from them.

Resetting the preferences should return them to default.

The text tool problem may be related to the ppi of the document you’re working on (check it’s not a ridiculous value, like 1 or 3000 ppi).

SBP: is the layer youwant the effect on the current (actual) layer? What is the mode and colour model at that time?

Are you shutting PS down before shutting the computer down? Sometime shutting the computer down while PS is still open can cause your prefs to be lost. This will result in PS opening with default settings.
