I have a DCS 2.0 file made in CS (‘saved as’ from a .psd) saved with max. backward compatibility. File is saved as Single File w/Color Composite. When opening this file in PS 7 I get the ‘Rasterize Generic EPS Format’ box. I rasterize the file at 300dpi (which is what the original DCS 2.0 is saved as). If I open the aforementioned .psd, and paste it into a new layer of the rasterized file with difference applied, there is a pixel to pixel difference in certain areas.

Is this because PS has ‘re-processed’ this file? Thanks!

You must have vector information which may be saved into an EPS format like DCS2, but must be rasterized when reopened.

This would happen even if you reopened in CS.

John,

Your post got me thinking:

I knew there was no vector info in the file so I thought maybe there was something about the way the file was saved. Turns out that the file was save with ASCII85 encoding. After changing the encoding to Binary, all is well again.

Thanks!
