I have a color image that I want to change into B&W. This is not the problem.. the problem is that I want to keep a certain part (in this case a flag) in color and the rest of the image tranformed to B&W. Can this be done using Elements? If so, how do I do it?

Thanks
Marty

Ah ! There are so many ways to do this in Elements. One way, ad a hue, saturation adjustment layer>desaturate completely. paint black on the mask to remove it where the flag is. Merge visible.

Or,

duplicate layer, then desaturate, then rub out the Bl/W where the flag is (take your time for this) and you will find that the coloured flag is shining through.
