IMO the printer had confused the machine resolution 300dpi and the necessary image resolution.
For 300 ppi image resolution the machine resolution should be
e.g. 1440×1440 dpi.
I can´t believe that such a big machine can achieve this (too slow, not necessary, too expensive, not robust etc.).
