Regarding .gif animation

I am running Windows 2000 pack 4 with Photoshop CS. I am wondering if it is possible to make an .gif animation consisting of multiple still .jpg images on a website to download the first low res .jpg image and wait until the entire .gif animation is downloaded until it starts running. This would allow someone who has a dial up connection to instantly see the first image and not see the animation until it is fully downloaded so it runs smoothly. Is there a way to tell the animation to play image #2 and have that image be the last image to download (maybe a blank page) then image #3 would send it back to the beginning? Thank you for your help.

You can do this with simple style sheets and javascript. For instance, you could place a DIV over the gif animation, and set the this layer to hide onLoad.

In the older days, Netscpae had a proxy function, and you can also use HTML alternative image content to a limit.

Male your alt image the non-animated image.
It will load first and display while the animation is loading.
