What happens if you save it as a different filename? Is it 7.7k or 32k?

Are you certain about the file size? How are you seeing it? On some Win versions, Explorer does not refresh the file listing automatically and you need to hit F5.

Hello,

I am having a problem with the "Save for Web" utility. I am using various images as css backgrounds on web pages and have traced the problem to Photoshop.
They just don’t show. I have made copies of pics that do show as backgrounds and the copies don’t show either.
I have played with the image saving preferences in ImageReady and that doesn’t make any difference.
The same images loaded in XHTML in the <body> show. Anybody had similar trouble, or can anybody offer help?

Thankyou
Ornette

What are you saving them as? (jpegs, gifs, pngs?)

Yes. The CSS background image showed on my screen but not on someone else’s. The image used transperancy. When I set it to 60% instead of 40%, it showed up fine on the other computer. Hope that helps.

Sounds like the transparency level is the problem – since it’s a background image, how about screening it back in Photoshop instead and leaving the transparency at 100%?

Thanks for the info it’s very helpful. I have been using Transparency to prepare various things and of course, it’s easy to leave it on. Good luck

I’ve just tried again with png, gif and jpeg. I can get an older copy (for example, of a logo) to show, but any copy made in "Save for web" in any of the formats, with or without transparency, won’t show. I re-installed Photoshop, just in case, but no change.
It’s got me really puzzled.

Sounds like time to call Adobe – that just doesn’t make sense – might be something wrong with your copy. If you open the new image in Photoshop, can you see it there?

A programmer friend of mine mentioned that jpegs start off with certain bits of code and that sometimes that coding bit can get messed up.

Yes, I can see the pic and can even load it onto the page as an <img, but not as a background-image.
It’s weird isn’t it.

Want to send it to me – at least I can tell you whether it works on my end or not. To send to my email remove the CUTHIS from my email address.
