Charcoal filter

I am having trouble applying the charcoal filter to my RGB images. It was working fine and now it just turns the image into a blank slate. Grayscale images convert correctly…does the filter require a conversion to grayscale to work? thanks!

Charcoal uses your foreground color for the charcoal-strokes and your background color for the "paper". Could you have both colors set to White?
