I am not happy with Auto Select Layer option

I’ve suddenly become not happy with Auto Select Layer option (Move Tool). If you FILL any object with any % of color then this option works perfectly. But. If you use layer transparency this option fails, for example, if layer transparency is less than 50%.
Why? Is it feature or bug?
