I’ve seen a couple of other posts regarding PS CS turning images red, but they vary slightly from what I’m experiencing. YES – I read the recommended color management information, and learned much from it. My images look fine on screen in PS CS (apple 17" flat panel G4 tower, OS X Panther) but when I’m doing print previews, the images take on a horrible reddish cast. That’s how they print, too.

But this just started happening. I did senior portraits last weekend for 2 people and printed over 300 pictures on an Epson 1280 with no problems. Then my daughter attempted to print a picture and she got the red tones. I don’t know what settings she messed with. Now everything is looking that red in preview mode only.

In OS X Panther, is there a way to trash preferences?

By the way, I opened the same images in PS 7 and, using print preview, am having NO problems with color accuracy. And one more thing — I also have a Powerbook G4 and have installed PS CS on that. There are no problems with; print preview is perfect. This has to be something in PS CS.

Hold it…I just figured out how to trash preferences, and things are back to normal. The awful reddish cast is gone from print preview. Whew! (Trash preferences in OS X Panther by going to Users\Home\Library\Preferences\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder.

You might find David Pogue’s "The Missing Manual" to be an essential travelling companion on your adventures in the Land of OsX.

I have just got exactly the same problem also on a 1290 (UK). But I am working on a pc (sorry)- can you please translate what you said about trashing preferences? Which PS preferences? The problem has just started and I don’t understand why or what to do about it. Prints up to now have been fine using recommended ICC profiles and PS and printer settings. Am baffled. Thanks.

The prefs:

However, you may want to build a new monitor profile:

Print with Preview’s preview is not color managed (use the thumbnail preview for layout, position only).
