I don’t know if that’s possible, Jeremy.

I always download in the .bmp, jpeg, etc. formats. Then I bring the file into PSE and do a SAVE AS (choosing PSD format)

Others here are more experienced than I am, so perhaps there is a way that I don’t know about yet.

Jeremy,

PSE is very happy to accept an image in .pdf. Have you tried right clicking on the image and choosing "save target as"?

edit—this is for a link of course. For an image, just right click and do a "save as"

or you could just take a screen shot and open it in PSE from the clipboard
