I’m new to this forum and this may have been covered before…

If I apply an action to a new batch of files (say from a digital camera) I am asked to save every file. Once I’ve done this from then on it’s OK and saving is done automatically. Is there any way round this first save or am I doing something wrong?…

Mark do a forum search with the key words action ignore.

You may find something applicable to your situation, e.g.

In the File > Automate > Batch dialog, under Destination, specify a destination folder and turn ON the "Bypass Action ‘Save as’ Commands" option. This will cause PS to ignore the file name and folder recorded by the Save As command, but it will honor the .jpg settings.

Thanks RamΓ³n, I found what I needed – for anyone interested, the solution that worked for me was pretty much as you suggested: at the end of a recording don’t choose SAVE, use SAVE AS. Then FILE>CLOSE.
The saving location can be overidden when the action is used, when you also use the OVERIDE ACTION "SAVE AS" option.
