Adjustment layers are great for keeping records of the tools and values used in making corrections. They are good references for making similar corrections on another image months later. But a few tools are not available as adjustment layers, and I have been using a round about way to keep records for them. These include USM, Apply Image, Shadow and Highlight, etc.
For USM, I would create a top layer by merging all the layers below it. After applying USM, I would name the top layer with something like: "USM_200_.6_0" to record the amount, radius and threshold. Unfortunately, adding such layers would create a huge file. And for tools with many variables such as Apply Image, the layer’s name can get very long.
Is there an easier way to do this on CS? Thanks.
