resolution change in photshop 7

After scanning an object or cropping it or manipulating it in photshop the resolution will change by itself from 300 to 5 dpi(this means for example the image goes from a 10x 10 to like 400×400. its real annoying espcially when incorpporating it into a layout program, (i have to go back to photshop and change it back to 300 dpi and resave) Is there a fix for this.

Make sure your crop is not preset to change the res.

awesome, i think this may have fixed it, never even thought of that.
