Is there a way with PE2 to get the number of unique colors in an image? I can do it with PSP and do not have Photoshop. On a related subject, if I decrease the JPEG quality of an image I decrease the number of colors. Because of the compression this makes sense. If I decrease the resolution you also decrease the number of colors. I am trying to understand why.

Thanks, Ken

Ken,

It seems to me that one could only decrease the number of colors (when decreasing the resolution) IF you are resampling your image. Decreasing the res. without resampling makes each pixel larger so each one covers more printed area.

I don’t know if/how one could get the program to tell you how many different shades of colors are in a particular image.
