change selction tools when working

If I am using the magnetic selection tool and part way through the selction would like to change to say the polygon selection tool how do I do it?
Is it even possible

no I dont think you can, but what you can do is close the path whilst using the magnetic laso, then change to polygon and select add to path.

I just tryed that, and it went to the laso not the polygon.
