I’ve been reading the NG for a little while and I’m curious about something: are some of the people here from Adobe? Sometimes the answers on technical questions about PS are very professional.

Yes. When I read some of the responses, though, it almost appears as though the answers come from people with inside technical knowledge.

FWIW I’m a self-taught amateur who’s been playing with PhotoShop since, I think, version 1 in the late ’80s. I had a little desktop publishing business back then, brokering print and bumbling and fumbling a little graphic design. On MACs of course. When I abandoned the business about 10 years ago, I went PC and did almost no graphics until I got a digicam a few years ago. Now my D70 has rekindled my love of photography from 35 years ago, without the need to handle smelly and messy chemicals like I used to, just squinting with these old eyes at computer monitors and getting carpal tunnel and a sore butt from sitting in the computer chair for hours on end!

Now, like then, I recognize that there are people who know infinitely more about PS than I ever will. I would take a course if I could find one that addressed my level.

Glenn,

I could be looking in a mirror, even down to the camera 😉 You don’t need to take a course, just go to
http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/Adobe_Photoshop/All/ and marvel at the 7777 tutorials for all ablitities, techniques etc. There is also a must see site at http://www.russellbrown.com where you can download some excellent video tutorials. And if you can stand the banter and the ads, have a look at http://www.photoshoptv.com/ it’s up to episode 22 now I think but you can download all the earlier ones in MP4 or M4V formats.

It’s the web that is smart, aka Vernor Vinge’s artificial intelligence. People are just the unwitting transport. 😉
