Is there anyway to create an image that will print white correctly on a black background? By default it is assumed that you are printing on white paper, so white areas are left transparent.

Hi Lynn,
Yes. You need to create a spot color channel for just the white objects and have your printer print white as an extra plate. See this link for tutorial:
