PS7 crashes on sony vaio

I got my vaio about 12 months ago and PS7 kept crahing it, a blue screen appeared for a second and then the pc would restart. I searched long and hard and found a solution that was to simply change the name of a file. This worked beautifully and has worked great ever since. I recently had to reload the original os discs and now I have the same problem again but cant remember what file to rename. Does anyone remember the simple solution, what to change and what to change it to.

mmxcore plugin? that’s a problem indicating hardware, but it might work for you. you should have gotten it fixed when you first had the problem.
