Batch images to fit within XxY size?

I can do this in portfolio, but I start out with .PSD and I want to save it at the new size in .PSD also.

Portfolio wont do that.

I was hoping i can take a group of images and resize them to fit within 8 1/2 x 11" in photoshop
resolution i would want to keep whatever it was
