Photoshop will not open any files

Out of the blue Photoshop CS2 running on my non-intel based Mac, will not open any files. I’ve tried every method of opening and each time the color wheel appears and CS2 freezes up. I reinstalled the software and downloaded the recent updates, no help. I checked the Consol in utilities, it reads

## Component Manager: attempting to find symbols in a component alias of type (regR/carP/x!bt)

I’m running Mac OS X 3.9 I can’t imagine what is causing this problem, any advice?

I would start by trashing your Photoshop Prefs. and CS2 as well. Then Repair Permissions;
And re-install CS2;
And then Repair Permissions AGAIN.

Out of the blue…

That almost invariably means you need to trash your Preferences.

Reinstalling without first trashing Preferences is futile; you end up right back where you are started.
