PS Stops Working After Update!?!

Ok so I did the latest software update and now PS only works to a limited capacity. For example:
1)i select a layer holding the control and command keys and it lists the layers that are underneath the cursor. BUT not anymore…
2) i select an area and now it doesn’t let me move or delete that area selected. WTF???

any ideas would be most helpful cuz deadlines suck twice as hard when stupid things like PS not working happen. (im sure u can relate)

What update?

Please post details of your system (CPU, RAM, free hard drive and scratch disk space, and OS) and PS version, as well as all the steps you went through immediately prior to, during and after updating whatever you updated.

Did you repair permissions and disc repairs immediately before updating? Did you try resetting PS preferences?
