I don’t know what this is called, but I need help with something and I’ll try to explain it as well as I can. I have a background, and on top is a layer made up of an image of a man. Now how can I make it so that the lower half of his body fades more and more until it disappears. What tool do I have to use, and how do I uses it. Some tips or link to a guide would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Layer Mask with a Gradient black to white on the top layer will do it. Google Layer Mask.
