Pixelate filter won’t activate

I’m trying to use the Pixelate filter in Photoshop, but it won’t activate.

I checked preferences and the filter is visible (not deactivated). I also duplicated the background layer.

Bingo. That solved it. Thanks a bunch. I wonder I should I stop processing my images in 16bit. I’m always having to convert them anyway. But thanks again. Now I can get on to what I was doing.

16 bit has some advantages for certain situations, but if you don’t know about them you probably don’t need it.

It is not a case of "bigger is better".
