I’m interested in using Photoshop to simulate work done by Dye Transfer process. In Dye Transfer one creates a full color image by creating a matrix for each CMYK color and then print them on top of one another for the final full color image. I’d like to try and do this in Photoshop. Specifically I’d like to create a new image by taking 3 totally different B&W images, assigning each as a different CMYK color channel, and using these as the cyan, magenta, yellow and black channels of the new image. Does anyone have any idea how to specifically do this?

Just open a blank image then go into the channel palette. You can copy and paste your b&w images into whichever channel you want. Turn off the previews for the other channels before pasting. Your images may have to be in grayscale mode.

You can also add more channels, add specific inks and rename the existing channels. They don’t have to be cymk. Do a search on multichannel images.

I think it’s the other way. Or maybe just to clarify. The SOURCE images probably need to be in grayscale. The destination needs to be CMYK or RGB. I’ve tried this w/rgb images. It’s a fun little exercise.
