I looked around the FAQs and such but coulden’t find the answers I was looking for.

Using CS2 in XP Pro.

Why are my files doubling in size when I add an adjustment layer? I thought addjustment layers weren’t supposed to do that. Perhaps I have some settings wrong somewhere?

I’ve got a .psd @ 24.37 MB. After opening, adding a levels adjustment layer and saving, the file is now 48.69 MB. I can then add a number of more adjustment layers with not much change. But why the big jump in the first place?

Thank you very much for the help in understanding.

IIRC, this happens because you are saving with maximize file compatibility turned on. This causes PS to save a flattened copy of the image along with all the layers. Thus causing the doubling you are seeing.
