Can’t open GIF or PNG

Hello

I’m having such problem. I have CS2 and I can’t open and save pictures both in PNG or GIF, only JPG and other photoshop formats. I’m using Windows XP SP2. Is there a solution for this?

RIGHT CLICK any given file in the menu, about halfway down, select "Open with" at the bottom of the sub menu, select "Chose program" EVEN IF PHOTOSHOP IS IN THE MENU! In your "Open with" dialogue choose photoshop. There is a check box next to something that says "Always choose this program…bla bla bla" Check the box and when dbl clking the file type it’ll open in PS
