Organizing Photos in a specific order

Does anyone know the best way to organize photos in a specific order and then rename them with sequencing file names…001,002,003. I can do the renaming part in Bridge, but I want a specific order before renaming. tx blah

In Bridge, go to thumbnail view and just drag them into any order you want, then select all and rename.
