clearing the clipboard

I keep trying to save a new sky (Ctl A, Ctl C) and then pasting it into the place in my photo marked with the Magic Marker. What I get, though, is not the sky that I saved but rather another old image even though I have cleared the clipboard in Clipboard Viewer. Why?

Pardon the obvious question, but you are SELECTING this sky before copy/pasting, right?
