I have an image on a layer that I added a layer mask to. The problem is that the edge of the image still shows even when it should be completely masked out. There is a halo around the image instead of a smooth gradation. Any ideas on how to fix this?

You’ll need to explain your problem in a little more detail. A screen grab would be beneficial too (post it at <http://www.pixentral.com> ).

I’m guessing there was a feather on whatever selection you used to make the mask. Just paint in black over the halo or remake the selection.

Same happens with hard brush and pencil. (I had already made sure the brush tool hardness setting was at 100%).

Can you post screen captures of the Quickmask and the evidence you have showing the selection is feathered?

It did stay white. You still have the quickmask showing, which is why you are getting the pink rubylith.
