I don’t know if this is helpful or not, but as I now have an Epson printer that can print on writable DVD/CD media and recently used it for some DVDs, I simply scanned the DVD and cut out the white printable area to a transparency. Then, using any image I have, I overlay that on the image and transform the image as needed, add text if desired, etc. to create the "label". I then trim the image down to the CD/DVD edge, hide the DVD template layer, and save the image. Finally, I drag that into the Epson CD Print application and the image falls into place exactly as desired. The Epson app can be used as well for further text additions.
