How do we turn a channel into a jpg graphic? We run PhotoShop 7.0 on a Windows XP system.

We have an attractive multi color graphic we want to use as a PowerPoint background in pale yellow. We changed hues, moved it into CMYK and deleted all but the yellow and black channels and then flattened it and tried to save it as a jpg but weird things keep happening..

How do we save a couple of channels as a .jpg or .tif that we can use as a graphic like any other psd file? Many thanks!!!!

IIRC, Powerpoint can’t take CMYK files. Convert to RGB mode

Hi MicheleMoore,
You can separate CMYK channels to 4 documents (from the Channels palette menu, select "Split Channels" command). However, as far as I can see you just need to make your image monochromatic. Here is a better way:

1. Pull down "Image > Adjustments > Channel Mixer"
2. At the bottom of the "Channel Mixer" dialog, click "Monochrome" gadget – the image turns to grayscale.
3. Mix the channels by moving sliders to get the required tone and detail
4. Deselect "Monochrome" option
5. In the "Output Channel" menu, select "Yellow"
6. Again, move the sliders to get the required tint.

I would simply fill the channels with white instead of deleting them…
