When I try to check for updates, I get the message
"A new version of the Adobe Updater is available for installation. Click okay to install it now". After clicking OK, I get the message
"Adobe Updater failed to install." It then proceeds to download updates and I get the same message wrt to the Updater.

Help!

Chuck

I checked all items before I sent the message. If I ask again, will I receive this message again?

Oh, why didn’t you just say so? I wasn’t tuned in on that … I was searching the KB etc.

My configuration is a MacBook running Mac OS X 10.5.5. Am running CS3 Extended.

I wasn’t tuned in on that

You’re still not. :/

What exact version of CS3? 10.0.1? What exact version of the Adobe updater? What have you tried so far? Routine maintenance? All of that is pertinent.

But never mind that, for now, You can manually download every single update from the main Adobe downloads site, and install each one of them manually.

The Adobe updaters have been broken in one way or another for years. I haven’t relied on them for ages.

Chuck,

Like other Websites, PDFs and the like, inline text that is colored differently and/or changes the cursor from an arrow or insertion point to a hand is a clickable link. Please click it, read the hints in the resulting page and then post back with the requested information.

Thank you.

In case anyone is looking for a helpful answer, I found this in another post and it worked:

– create a new administrator-level user
– login as that user (you can use fast switching, don’t need to log yourself out) – run the Adobe Updater from that user

Seems to work.

Dan,

That means your regular account is corrupted.

Thanks Dan. I tried your recommendation without luck … still get same results.

Ramón, if my system is corrupted, what do I do now?

Run all updates manually then disable the updater. There will be no more CS3 updates as CS4 has been released.

Thanks, Buko. I forgot that I could do that.

Trash all Photoshop preferences.

If that doesn’t fix it, do an Archive and Install of the OS.
