I almost always use ImageReady so I may be unfamiliar with something I’m doing in Photoshop.
I have recently touched some photographs in Photoshop. Much of what I did was to simply paint a white color over some of the "off-white" portions of the images. I then saved them as JPG files and used them on a website. When viewing on the web, much, if not all, of the modifications I made seem to have not taken place. You can see areas where I erased and some other stuff. Simply put, they look horrible.
When working with the files on my computer, I cannot see those problems in the finished JPG file(s). Nor can I see the problems on the web. When I look at them on another computer or other people look at them on the web, they also see the problems mentioned above.
Any ideas as to why I cannot see what the file "actually" looks like? And also why the modifications are not being applied to the image.
The orginal photos are in JPG format. I save them at the highest quality possible using sometimes 5 and sometimes 12 scans. I also beloeve they have the progressive setting turned on.
Here are just two examples:

Any thought would be greatly apprecieated.
