Filters missing/unavailable in PhotoShop CS2

Many of the filters that are listed as available — the groupings listed as artistic, brush strokes, sketch and texture — do not appear in the drop down menu. When I click on the "Filter" tab, they remain light gray and not highlighted. All the other filters seem to work OK; just those four groups or types of filters. I’m running Windows XP and this software is part of the Adobe Creative Suite.

Unless you’re using RGB 8 bit images, not all of the filters will be available.
