I posted this message in the Mac forum as well. Sorry for the cross-posting, but I couldn’t figure out any other way to get this general question in front of both audiences.
Is there a way to replace an image that is "clipped" using a clipping mask? Here’s the scenario:
2 layers. Bottom layer is clipping mask (of course), top layer is image. I want to delete the image that has been clipped but retain the image’s layer. In effect, make it an empty layer. Then, pass the file along to someone else who wants to copy an image into the blank layer.
I can’t figure out how to do that. I can delete and retain the blank clipped layer. But Photoshop will only paste into a new layer…not into the clipped layer.
Am I trying the impossible?
