Filters Dissapear

All of a sudden I can not use several filters under SKETCH. When I first installed Elements, I was able to use all of them. Now only CHALK, CONTE, NOTEPAPER and WATER are usable. The other options do do work on any photos. Can anyone suggest a fix?

Michael,

Make sure Image>Mode reads RGB and that your image is 8 bit.

If the above describes your image, try resetting your preferences file.

For Windows; immediately after launching PSE hold down ctrl/alt/shift until a message appears-answer yes and let it load. No dialog box=your fingers weren’t fast enough, try again.

I made the new preferences folder and everything has returned.

That’s good news. If the program gets wonky again, that little trick is the first thing to try.
