How can I resize an image that’s 11.378 x 17.067 to an 8×10? The best I’ve been able to do is 8 x 12. TIA

BTW, I’m using Elements 2.0 & PS 7…

As far as I know you cannot resize it to 8×10 since the aspect ratio of the original (11.4×17.1) is not the same as the aspect ratio of 8×10. You would end up with some distortion if you just resized. Your best bet is to use the cropping tool and set it to 8 inches x 10 inches. This will capture whatever you want of the picture as an 8×10 and maintain aspect ratios. You will lose a little of the picture but not much.

Hi.

The brutal answer is that you can’t.

They are different shapes.

The long side of the original picture is one and a half times the size of the short side. The 8 x 12 picture is the same shape, that is, it has the same proportions (1 > 1.5 ).

An 8 x 10, has the long side one and a quarter times the size of the short side (1 > 1.25 ).

If it must be 8 x 10, then you will need to Crop 2 inches off the image.

If you need the long side to be 10, and need to keep all of the image, then the short side will have to be 6.66.

Irritating isn’t it.

I guess that’s the only option. I’ll have to use the crop tool, then. I’m sure it will work on most shots. Thanks!

Yes, it is very irritating! it looks like the crop tool set to 8×10 while maintaining the aspect ratio is the only option. Thanks!

I don’t know if this will help, but if you reset the crop tool, it isn’t locked into an aspect ratio.
