I have scanned a map to a PSD file. Looks like it was built in layers, but I have only the single layer. Is there any programmatic way of getting rid of the text (street names, etc.), or am I stuck with a massive amount of editing by hand? Thanks.

if you only have one layer, then everything is in that layer. Sorry.

If the text is a different color you can
select a portion and do ‘select similar’
You probably will get an imperfect
selection but if you tweek it, it might
be useful when you get to erasing the
stuff. You might also select the background
color and then invert (Is that what it’s called?)
reverse the selection and see what you get.
I’d try the paint and clone tools to see which
works better and try filling the selection, if
you can get a good one. If you post a
part of it, I might have some other ideas.
