Hi there,
I’m using Photoshop CS2 and converted a 300dpi image to a 72 dpi image. I sliced the image in both photoshop and imageready and both said that the slices are at 72dpi.

But when you go to Windows Explorer, right click on the images, in the Properties>Summary, it says the images are at 96dpi.

If I check the dpi through Image Size in Photoshop, it says the images are at 72dpi.

Any idea what’s going on??
Thanks in advance,
W

First of all you are refering to ppi not dpi.

second 96ppi is the resolution of your monitor.

You appear to be saving images for the web, a function in Photoshop that removes the resolution metadata from the image since it is of no usefulness. The values of 72 and 96 are the default ppi that each program assigns when there is no resolution data in the file when opening. Another viewer may indicate a resolution of 100 ppi. The ppi does not matter for images designed for the screen.

You will see that each viewing app still displays the same number of pixels high by wide. That is consistent.
