Hi. I’m a newbie to Photoshop and I want to know what is the easiest way to do one of the basic things in Photoshop: knock out part of a photo. For instance, if there’s a photo of a kid at the beach, I want to eliminate the beach part and just retain the kid. The simplest way I’ve found to do this is the EXTRACT tool (under the FILTER menu) where you highlight what you want with this green highlighter tool and then fill and extract the part you want. Am I on the right track? Is this the basic way to accomplish this task? Any other tips? I’m using Photoshop CS3 but will soon get CS4. Thanks.
