Hi,

I have a background image that i want to split into 4 equal segments

How can I do that? Is there a tool for the job?

Thanks!
Dan

Slices might do it.

Here’s another way …

– View > New Guide > Position: 50% Vertical
– View > New Guide > Position: 50% Horizontal (you now have four even quadrants lined out)

If you want to make separate files of each quadrant do these steps …

– use Rectangular Marquee tool with feather = 0 and it should snap to the guides, so select one quadrant
– Edit > Copy (or ctrl-c)
– File > New and it will automatically pick up the right size, name it ‘Q1’ or similar and repeat for the other quadrants

The 50% trick under New Guide is handy, and one of the many useful tricks I learned about on this newsgroup.

Oops, left out Edit > Copy to dump the data into this new file (cntrl-v)
