Can anyone please direct me to a source of information for tips on how best to convert a black and white photograph to colour. I am using Photoshop CS.

Go to http://www.google.com and paste this into the search window photoshop hand coloring

You will get a lot of great tips. The one by Mr. Greenspun is particularly quick.

Can anyone please direct me to a source of information for tips on how best to convert a black and white photograph to colour.

If you don’t know how to use layers:

Step 1: Image->Mode->RGB
Step 2: Set the Paintbrush Mode to Color instead of Normal. Step 3: Paint on the image.

If you know how to use layers:

Step 1: Image->Mode->RGB
Step 2: Create a new layer. Set its Blending Mode to Color. Step 3: Paint in that new layer with the Paintbrush.
