Can’t Save or Save As Files in Photoshop 7

After transferring files from CF card to Photoshop 7, and then editing, I am frequently unable to Save or Save As the files. I get a message saying the file is open – close and retry, or a file by that name is open. Then again, everything seems to work fine at other times.

copy to your hard drive first. don’t open them directly from the card.

I sometimes get the same messages after manipulating an image that has been scanned in. Any ideas how to solve it?

The only time I get that message is if I way a lot of images open and it has taken up too much space. If I close some, then it works.
