photo shop locking up

im running photo shop 7 with 512 megs of ram on xp it is locking up every time i try to work on somthing no problem with elements any guesses remove no spam to e mail

Check your prefs. Maybe you need to tweak the RAM allocated to Photoshop, the number of history states and your scratch disk settings. I’m not sure if Service Pack 2 has anything to do with this, but I know id has several negative consequences for many apps.
