Just wondering what new processes in CS are now multithreaded? In PS7, as far as I recall, things such as image size, transform, and change color mode were NOT multithreaded processes. Does anyone know if they are for CS, or just do not work that way? Other than that, what new goodies might take full advantage of hyper-threaded or dual processors? Appreciate the help…

No, in PS 7 image size, transform and color change WERE threaded.

And we don’t keep a user readable list of what is threaded and what isn’t, because most of the app is threaded.

they are threaded… great!! Guess I got my caps mixed up 😉

Sounds like a dual processor machine will make a ton of difference after all. Thanks for the note.

Any chance you could shed some light what performance component has the most effect on file opening speed (on a Windows machine)? Hard drive or processor speed, or both? Thanks again.

File opening? If you have enough RAM, then disk speed dominates the time (Windows has horrible disk drivers). Faster drives, sATA, and RAID help a lot.

Nice, thanks. This is awesome to be able to talk to someone who actually writes this stuff, after arguing with my designer buddies over the years 😛

I’ve been looking at a dual processor machine with two of those new SCSI 15,000 RPM drives and 2GB RAM. Sounds like it’s the right plan… again, thanks for the time and help.
