My wife is a teacher and is thinking of buying the academic version of the Creative Suite. however I have been told by a retailer that now the academic versions have a watermark on all their output, which is quite a departure from the way things used to be. Is this correct?

False, not in Photoshop, AFAIK, it is the case on Maya and other high-end 3D programs. Did you check the education pages of the site?

Never believe anything a salesman tells you. I have used the Edu versions for years and they are complete, and without restriction. You are even allowed to use them commercially, once you are out of school.

You might not have the goodies included on the cd, nor the stock images. But PS is fully functionnal.

Just an FYI, don’t know if it’s still the case, but I DID get the goodies folder and stock images w/my PS6 Edu version.

You’ve figured me out Dave. Now I have to have a representative of "the shop" pay you a little visit.

Working for the government? Isn’t that an oxymoron, like Military Intelligence?

(Just kidding, Graffiti. I know some people in government actually do some work. If they didn’t, the other ones would never get a paycheck, and all our problems would be solved.)

Hi guys,

Just got home from purchasing the full Adobe Suite Package (Educational Version) which is the Premium package for Windows. Printing out install stuff for my acclimation process.

(I’m not that experienced in the "process.")

But, I had a conversation in another thread awhile back with Len Hewitt and others regarding the academic version.

I was under the impression that there wasn’t an "academic version" per se–that the premium package was the same.

So here’s the info I came across on the first couple of pages that is not included in my edu version.

Adobe Creative Suite Premium Educational Version (thought I could copy paste, but no luck) so here’s abridged version.

Some content items are not included in the edu versions. Note that the PDF user guide or Online Help may refer to some items that are not included with the Educational versions.

Content not available:

PS CS: Stock Art folder and contents

Illus CS: Stock photography, Professional Quality Clip Art

InDesign CS: same as Illy

GoLive CS: CSS Redirect.action, Key Press.action, Random Links.action, Text Swap (ID).action, Last Modified (form).action, Last Modified (ID).action, Clock Date (ID).action, Digital Clock.action, Print Document.action

Acrobat 6 Professional: Extending Acrobat folder resources including Asian fonts, IT resources, Developer Info, Distiller Parameters.

I’m not complaining, just curious on the translation of what "you" have that I don’t. (you know, a jealousy thing!)

TIA,

Patty

Thanks for the listing Patty. I’ll be ordering my upgrade in a couple days, and it is nice to know what isn’t there. (All I really wanted to be sure of was the fonts. I have lots of stock images, and filters don’t impress me too much.)

And the $1000+ savings for the edu version certainly placates any feelings of not getting good value.
