I couple of weeks ago a mysterious problem began – I can no longer see any text in Photoshop 7. I try to type and the curser moves like it’s making text but there is none. I’ve checked all the simple things I can think of – text color IS set to black, I’ve change the font to about 30 different standard sets that should work. Help. Luckily, I do not use text in Photoshop often, but I wan’t to today, and I can’t, and I am very, very annoyed. Please help. -Heather

open an image, select all, copy, create a new document, paste it, and see if you can type a text.

Thanks for the advice – I am not very "forum savvy" and I just accidently searched for simmillar issues (wish I remembered how) and found out how to delete the preferences file by holding down shift+ctrl+alt when starting up Photoshop… worked like a charm. Don’t know what went wrong in the first place, but like I tell my bosses when they ask me what the glitch was "byte 000010010 said something chraged to byte 010001000 and the whole system bolted" eh, bad byte humor.

One possible reason for the problem would be resolution being set too low (under 10) which screws up fonts. And if there was a baseline shift of a huge amount, you could be typing and the characters could be appearing that much above or below where you were looking (off the screen). Either error is corrected by resetting the prefs.
