Line fills ????

Hi i am following a tutorial that is really good but i have a problem with items 5,6,7 not sure what he means about dragging the lines and how do you fill a line with colour when i put the line in then click off it dissapears.

Also on the first page how do you select line colours, it seems i am struggling with line filling ???? See item 2

If you drag a line with the single pixel selection tool then go to edit>fill and select foreground color, you will have a 1 pixel line in whatever color your foreground is. 6 and 7 are telling you to make a selection and delete the top part of your lines. If you drag out a square using the Rectangular Marquee tool and then hit delete, anything on that layer that falls within your selection will be deleted.
