Photoshop7 User guide p-165 –1.To save with different nams and location CHOOSE FILE>SAVE AS Then type in filename, choose a location and save.
–2.To save a file in a different format CHOOSE FILE>SAVE AS Then choose a format from the format!

When I try to do 2. I get choices for only 1. Different options are both accessed by the same "CHOOSE FILE>SAVE.

What am I missing???

What is your image mode (if I’m understanding you correctly)?

Some formats are not available for some modes.

Bill,

Choose "Save A Copy" rather than "Save As".

Thank you for your help. Had a bad day I guess, but was in big trouble yesterday. Today the "save as type " appears just like it should! mystery!
I was in RGB 8 bits.
